On the move
New home for the blog. Yay! Estimate from the contractor on my house. Double-Yay! Visits from friends. Yay, yay, yay!
Ok, first things first: This is the new home for my site - I could no longer justify paying for two ISPs, so as of August the old one will be kaput. Blogger has also made some changes since I last wrote in May, so between that and the new server, I am still working on getting the photo albums and archives back up.
As for my physical home, big changes afoot. Tom the Contractor came by with an estimate for us, and our next step is picking out things like flooring, plumbing fixtures, and windows. Work won't start until winter (ugh), but nonetheless, everything looks good. We'll be going from our current 2-bedroom, 2-bath setup to a 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath. Plus we'll have a usable stairway, and much better windows, which is always a plus.
Michael and Ann and Jane came through town for July 4, and we had a lovely time. We went to the Gambier parade and took a picnic to the Mount Vernon fireworks. Aside from a lengthy power outage, it was a fantastic time. Another highlight of the visit was a trip to The Wilds, outside Zanesville. I recommend it to anyone. It was fantastic. A pair of rhinos came right up to the bus, and I think I got some good photos.
In other news, the Chamber Singers reunion was in May, we went to my family reunion in June and had a blast (I got to meet a number of cousins I didn't know I had), and at the beginning of this month I turned 34. Oh, and I finally got a piano:
Anyhow, that's the summary of life over the past few months. Upcoming: the piano tuner comes on Monday, Joe's and my 3rd anniversary is Tuesday (we're celebrating on the weekend), we're seeing friends in Pittsburgh in August, and my friends Paul and Rob are coming into town as part of their baseball tour.
Such a whirlwind of activity we are.
