And a very good morning to you, too...
There are only a very few things I still have not gotten used to since my move back to central Ohio. One of them cropped up this morning.
Y'know how when you call for service on something (cable, plumbing, etc), they give you a window? In this case it was the lawnmower, which needed new blades and general servicing. The good folks at Sears were able to narrow it down to sometime between 8am and 5pm today. Nine hours. Luckily, I work from home anyhow, so all I needed to do was make sure I was showered and dressed by 8. No problem. Only I had forgotten to take into consideration the Ohio factor.
In Ohio, contractors show up early.
I have never heard of this happening anywhere else in the world. Perhaps it's to make up for being completely unavailable for a week in November during hunting season.
In any case, the guy showed up promptly at 7:45, while I was still in my bathrobe.
On the up side, the mower is now ready for action this weekend, and none too soon. Although most of the grass is still under control, there are patches of wild onion sprouting up everywhere. I expect that by Sunday the whole neighborhood will smell like marinara.
garden progress: This past weekend was a coup - all the downed trees have been chopped into firewood, and the future veg garden is cleared out and ready to be stripped.
house progress: Lots of cleaning done on my office.
what's for dinner? Undecided. Got any suggestions?
