Things are looking up the big pink pig
My car is home, after way too long an adventure with the mechanic. It has a new timing belt, new water pump, and most recently a new temperature sensor. Gus has a vet appointment in the morning for blood tests, plus another first thing Friday morning for a 4-day prednisone shot. The best thing about this is that it means we don't have to send him to kitty jail during the Chicago trip. Everyone is very relieved, and I will be much better able to enjoy the trip if I am not so worried about him.
Aside from Joe's ALA activities, there are museums to see (Tuesday seems to be the best free day), food to eat (Taste of Chicago will be going on, plus we have been encouraged to check out Frontera Grill, Carson's, Shaws, and the Greektown neighborhood), and friends to visit (planning to stop and see Hugh and family on the trip through Indiana). We'll probably go to Daley Plaza just for the Blues Brothers kitsch of it. Any other suggestions?
garden progress: Trying to identify the shrub we've had for several years, covered in little clusters of pink flowers (see below). Anyone who has an idea, please let me know.
house progress: Looking a little less like a laundry bomb exploded
what's for dinner? Leftover roast chicken with lemon and cilantro
